Kolhapur (Marathi: कोल्हापूर) is a city situated in the south west corner of Maharashtra, India. The population of Kolhapur is around 6,50000. The main language is Marathi. It is situated on the banks of river Panchganga and provides the location for the Mahalakshmi Temple. The city also lends its name to many common terms like Kolhapuri Chappal , Kolhapuri lavangi mirchi, Kolhapuri gur and Kolhapuri cuisine.

Kolhapur National Short Film Festival is a mission is to engage and inspire the community by screening films without discrimination, creating new films, teaching the art of filmmaking, and networking with fellow filmmakers.
We provide an International platform that showcases all kinds of work from filmmakers, visual artists and musicians while providing educational opportunities during the festival.
The Kolhapur National Short Film Festival (KNSFF) is for filmmakers and film lovers alike to be entertained, educated and inspired. KNSFF celebrates independent film and recognizes and pays tribute to accomplished artists on both sides of the camera in the international, national and regional film community. We provide filmmakers, producers, directors, writers and actors an environment to collaborate, present their work, and interact with each other and with film audiences. Our priorities are to showcase the most challenging and topically relevant documentaries each year and provide a platform for Others filmmakers.
Features of the festival
This festival will be concluded in 4 Days. In which on the first day Inauguration will be concluded by Special Guest, then there will be a brief speech by the dignitaries. There will be a breakfast break of one hour. We will begin the official screening after having breakfast. There will be a lunch break each day at 2 pm in the afternoon and then Second phase of the Screening will take place again after lunch break. Entire 4 days event schedule will be the same, please refer to the schedule on this page below. On the Last day Award Ceremony will be concluded after the lunch break. In total 300 Films will be selected for Screening out of which 10 participants will be awarded the SPECIAL JURY AWARD. A five minutes Q&A round will be taking place after each movie screening so that Jury and other filmmakers will be able to learn the techniques and get inspired through the aim and motive behind making the movie. A special Producers meet will be concluding on the 2nd and 3rd day in the form of networking events and debate and discussions will be taking place. Interviews of the Award winning filmmakers will be taking place and will be uploaded on our new Official YouTube Channel of KNSFF.
At KNSFF, we believe in the magic of the cinematic experience. Nothing can replace discovering a new filmmaker or movie with a community of independent film lovers. Our theaters is outfitted with Dolby Digital Sound and the L.E.D Screening of 8 *12 Screener and P3 Projector will be used.

Kolhapur National Short Film Festival was started with the idea of building and promoting a healthy film culture in Kolhapur. Our objective is to give film lovers in the city access to global cinema and spark a cultural exchange. With discussions, lectures and master classes on varied topics related to the craft, we try to instil an academic flavor in the festival.
Every edition of KNSFF will have a unique contemporary theme. we will bring second quality films from various countries and cultures. An acclaimed International jury decides awards for films in the competitive sections.
The Government of Maharashtra recognized KNSFF is the only festival that gives international recognition to cinema. KNSFF continues to grow with the participation of more and more accomplished film personalities, emerging filmmakers and film enthusiasts.
